The West Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine may inspect any animal control facility, animal shelter, or humane society which employs a Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician to determine if it complies with the requirements for possession, administration, purchase or storage of Sodium Pentobarbital, Sodium Pentobarbital compound or the approved sedatives or tranquilizers for pre-euthanasia administration, as established by the Board. All animal euthanasia facilities shall be inspected every 2 years.
Registration Renewal
Online registration renewals are available from April 1 thru June 30. Registrations are required to be renewed each year by June 30. Renewals submitted after June 30 require payment of a late fee. If you do not wish to renew online, you may submit your renewal form to the Board office.

Initial Registration for Animal Euthanasia Facilities
Once an animal control facility, animal shelter, or humane society employs a Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician, a facility registration form and fee must be submitted to the Board for the year immediately following the certification of the Animal Euthanasia Technician.

Facility Inspection
